Bilibino NPP: 16.178 mln kWh of electric power were generated in January

In January of 2011 power units of Bilibino NPP generated 16.178 mln kWh of electric power.

In January there were no violations of limits and conditions at the nuclear power plant.

At present three power units are in operation. Power unit No. 2 has been put into Тcold reserveУ in accordance with dispatch restrictions.

The radiation background at Bilibino NPP and in the area of its location corresponds to the normal operation of power units and does not exceed the natural background environmental values.

Bilibino NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The plant is located next to Bilibino city, in the Chukotka Autonomous District. Bilibino NPP operates four EGP-6 uranium-graphite pressurized tube reactors. Each reactor has capacity of 12MW (el.). The first power unit was commissioned in 1973, the second Р in 1974, the third Р in 1975, and the fourth one Р in 1976. The plant produces about 80% of energy generated in Chaun-Bilibino isolated electricity system (upon that the system takes about 40% of energy consumed in the Chukotka Autonomous District).

Detailed and timely information about the radiation environment near Russian NPPs and other objects of the nuclear industry is available in the site www.russianatom.ru.
