Baltic NPP: the works at the constructing site are carried out according to the schedule

Despite the flood situation in Kaliningrad region appeared because of rapid warming and rain shower, the works at the constructing site are carried out according to the schedule. 

As Jury Shalimov, General Director of Baltic NPP CJSC, noted, nasty weather had not affected the construction process, all the subcontractors involved in the preparation works were working in normal mode, i.e. twenty-four-hour.

According to Eugeny Vlasenko, Director of Direction of Baltic NPP under construction, a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC, on the last day of January, as it had been scheduled, a high-voltage line of 15/10kW capacity providing the construction units with energy supply, was energized. ТThat gave us an opportunity of producing the primary test consignment of concrete mix on a mortar and concrete site ready to start-up. The works on the construction base erection are continuedУ, - the branch Director noted.

The foundation stone of Baltic nuclear power plant was laid on February 25, 2010 in Neman district of Kaliningrad region. The plant is being constructed on the basis of the NPP-2006 project and will consist of two power units of total capacity equal to 2,300 mW. The first power unit is to be started up in 2016, and the second one Р in 2018. The purpose of the plant is to supply power to Kaliningrad region and abroad. For the first time in the Russian nuclear power industry private investors, including foreigners, are invited to participate in the project. They can get a share of up to 49% in the Baltic NPP project. At present negotiations with potential investors are being continued.
